As an expert Civil & Geotechnical Engineer, John works on a daily basis across a broad range of projects alongside an equally broad range of professionals and technology. His goal is to offer practical, effective geotechnical advice that enables clients to make informed decisions. His work ranges from assisting private clients with smaller projects to advising established developers working on large-scale commercial projects across Canterbury and the West Coast. John believes the interaction between ESP’s in-house experts ensures clients are always provided with professional, robust advice.
The constraints of District and Regional Council requirements have presented a challenge at times but he feels he has developed an understanding of how to navigate these as well as other areas that can affect a project. He would like to get involved with more new clients at the earliest stage of their project, to develop the most cost-effective solutions for land development, ground improvement and foundation construction.
When not at work, he likes nothing better than to explore the South Island with his young family. He loves getting out and about on his bike on a sunny day, especially around the beautiful Port Hills and Banks Peninsula, and completes the odd 250km bike ride – just for fun.
John’s engineering vision is to grow cities and rural communities through good planning and engineering design into thriving, inclusive communities.
